SENSE OF MALAYSIA STORY
Sense of Malaysia (SOM) is a retail opportunity for you to showcase & sell unique Malaysian products. Developed by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), SOM provides a marketing platform at six international airports in Malaysia, namely; Terminal 1 & Terminal 2 (KLIA), Langkawi International Airport (LIA), Penang International Airport (PIA), Kuching International Airport (KIA) and Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA).
The idea for a local product store in the airport retail environment came as there was a void of accessibility to local popular products in the respective state catering to airport visitors and travellers alike. Besides, shopping for personal gifts and souvenirs is deemed essential for any kind of traveller. Hence, the Sense of Malaysia store was established.
Visual identity of Sense of Malaysia is taken after a lotus flower. The lotus flower is chosen because it depicts peace, harmony and balance. It is what makes Malaysia so unique despite being multicultural, Malaysia maintains a peaceful and harmonious balance. Located in the centre of the overall logo and coloured gold, it depicts the precious quality all Malaysians resonate with.
While promoting various local products represented by local brands in the respective state, purchases of local products will enable local entrepreneurs to sustain a livelihood. Many of these entrepreneurs are passionately committed to keeping traditional methods and recipes alive to ensure future generations can continue enjoying them.
